Released: January 26, 2007
The Department of Insurance Fraud Section revoked the license of Janis Dalene Simms Blaylock, 29, at the Richland Parish Detention Center in Rayville today where she surrendered to the State Police Insurance Fraud Unit. Blaylock was charged with 14 counts of insurance fraud and one count of felony theft totaling over $15,000.
In October 2006, the Department of Insurance Fraud Section issued Blaylock a cease and desist order and summary suspension of her license based on allegations of misappropriation and fraudulent insurance acts. Blaylock did not request a hearing to contest the c&d and summary suspension, resulting in today’s revocation and arrest.
Department records show that Blaylock worked as an insurance agent in Delhi and vicinity and held a Life, Health & Accident and a Property & Casualty license from 1999 until her suspension in October 2006.
Commissioner Donelon urges consumers who have any questions regarding policies Blaylock sold or serviced to call the Department of Insurance Fraud Unit at 225-342-4956 or 1-800-259-5300. If callers don’t want their names used, they can request that their involvement be kept confidential.
