Commissioner Donelon Appoints New Financial Solvency Chief

Commissioner of Insurance Jim Donelon announced today that Caroline Brock will serve as the Deputy Commissioner of Financial Solvency for the Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDOI). Brock replaces Denise Brignac who was recently appointed Chief Deputy Commissioner of Insurance.

Brock, a Certified Financial Examiner, has worked as the LDOI chief examiner since 1998, overseeing the division responsible for the examinations of insurance companies licensed in Louisiana. She graduated from LSU in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. That same year Brock joined the LDOI as a field examiner and has held several positions in the Office of Financial Solvency.

“ Caroline has the expertise and experience necessary to run the Office of Financial Solvency,” Commissioner Donelon says. “She is a natural choice to fill this vacancy.” Donelon adds that Brock, in her 20 years of monitoring the financial solvency of insurance companies, is a major part of why none of our state’s insurers have failed, even after the worst natural catastrophes in the history of the insurance industry with Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Brock says, “I have worked in Financial Solvency for quite some time so I know the ins and outs of this division. I am prepared for this new role and look forward to the challenges that come with the job.”

As part of her duties as Deputy Commissioner of Financial Solvency, Brock is responsible for the LDOI’s compliance with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Accreditation Program. She is a member of the Society of Financial Examiners and holds the group’s designation of Certified Financial Examiner. Brock is also as an active member of the NAIC, serving on several of the association’s committees. She is married to Beau Brock and is the mother of five children.
