Sun Area Bail Bond Agent Arrested, Issued Cease and Desist Order, License Revocation and Fine Notice

A Sun area bail bond agent has been arrested and was issued a cease and desist order, license revocation and fine notice yesterday for alleged misappropriation of premiums.

Linda G. Ammons, 44, was arrested by State Police on Tuesday, April 28. She was also served by Department of Insurance Fraud Section Investigators with a cease and desist order, revocation of her license and a $3,100 fine notice for allegedly failing to remit premiums to the insurance company on multiple occasions. She is also alleged to have charged a defendent the face value of a bond with the addition of court fees, which exceeded the amount of premium to be charged for such a bail bond. She allegedly did not remit these monies to the company but converted it to her own use. The total amount of misappropriated funds is $5,311.20.

Department records show that Ammons was issued a Bail Bond license in November 2007, which was valid until yesterday’s action.
