Medicare FAQs: New Plan, New Year

I chose a new plan during Medicare Open Enrollment. Should I have received a new card?

If you made changes to your Medicare plan during open enrollment, you should have received a new card and billing information from your new plan. If you have not received this information, please contact the plan.

Is there a new deductible for Medicare Part B plans for 2022?

The Medicare Part B deductible is $233. Your deductible must be met before Medicare will pay on any Part B claims.

When is Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment?

Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment runs from January 1 to March 31. Click here to see 2022 Medicare Advantage Plans offered in your parish.

What does Medicare Part B cover?

Medical insurance (Part B) helps pay for doctors, as well as many medical services and supplies that are not covered by hospital insurance.

If you have questions about your Medicare coverage, contact our LA SHIIP staff at 800-259-5300 and select option 2.

Insuring a Teen Driver

If you’re a parent planning to add a teen driver to your auto insurance policy, take some time to shop around and ensure you’re getting the coverage you need.  Auto insurance rates for teens are usually higher because teen drivers have higher rates of crashes. Here are a few tips you can offer your teen driver to help control the cost of your auto insurance premium:

  • Keep a clean driving record
  • Keep a clear claims record
  • Avoid distracted driving

The Louisiana Department of Insurance is always available to answer any questions you have about your coverage or policy. Check out our Guide to Teen Auto Insurance for more information.
