2023 Open Enrollment for Health Insurance

The open enrollment period for coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace begins November 1. During this time, families and individuals are advised to review available plans and determine which works best for their lifestyle and budget.  If you are unable to apply within the open enrollment period, you can qualify for a Special Enrollment Period due to life changes such as losing another coverage, marriage, or having a baby.

Health coverage will begin January 1 for individuals who choose a plan by December 15, 2022. A licensed agent can help you with the purchase of a policy. The open enrollment period ends January 15, 2023.

Quick Facts: Medicare Open Enrollment

Medicare Open Enrollment is underway and ends December 7. Navigating the process can be difficult. The Louisiana Department of Insurance’s Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) is available for face-to-face and virtual counseling. Here are quick tips:

Avoid rushing. There are no discounts or special offers for signing up right away. Ask questions and request a company’s information to confirm they’re licensed in Louisiana.

Review your options. Make sure your doctors and hospitals are in a plan’s network.

Protect your personal information. Click on internet ads and messages from verified sources, such as government websites, to ensure your information is safe. Medicare and Social Security will never call or text you to offer health plans.

You can receive the most up to date Medicare information from the LDI delivered right to your inbox. Click here to subscribe.
