Prelicensing Education Information
Information for Producers
Act 273 (HB 545) was signed into law effective 6/3/2022. This Act repeals the mandatory prelicense education requirement for applicants for an insurance producer or consultant license for the lines of Life, Accident & Health or Sickness, Property, Casualty, Personal Line and Title. Applicants for these licenses and authorities will no longer need to complete a prelicense education course as a prerequisite to sitting for the license examination.
Applicants for a bail bond producer license are required to complete eight hours of instruction prior the completion of the bail bond apprenticeship program. The instruction must include applicable underwriting principles, state laws and regulation and ethical practices and must be conducted by an insurance trade association, an admitted insurer or an accredited public or private college or university.
Information for Claims Adjusters
Prelicense education is optional for claims adjusters. Candidates for claims adjuster licenses may choose to participate in a prelicense education program to prepare for the license examination. Participation in such programs is voluntary.
