Fingerprinting Requirements for Resident Producers and Adjusters
All first-time individual resident producer adjuster, and consultant applicants must be fingerprinted in order to become licensed. Fingerprinting services are provided by the license testing vendor PSI. You must be electronically fingerprinted at one of the PSI Louisiana sites. No appointment is necessary. A list of PSI testing locations and walk-in hours is available on PSI’s website.
Applicants who sit for an examination at a PSI test center may be fingerprinted at the test site at the conclusion of the testing session. Applicants who take their examination remotely must visit a PSI testing location to be fingerprinted during that site’s walk-in hours. Fingerprinting fees are paid for at the test site. While an applicant may take a Louisiana examination for a resident insurance producer or adjuster license at a PSI location in any state, the fingerprints may only be submitted at a PSI location within Louisiana. Any criminal history record information obtained by this process is confidential.
An individual applicant is not required to be fingerprinted if he is one of the following:
- A nonresident
- Already actively licensed as a resident and is adding a new license type or line of authority
- Reinstating a producer, adjuster or consultant license within two years of date of lapse
Generally the Department will receive fingerprint results within seven to ten days from submission of the fingerprints. If the Louisiana State Police or Federal Bureau of Investigation are unable to run the reports due to unreadable or unclear fingerprint submissions, it may take up to sixty (60) days for a check to be completed using alternate means.
